One is said to be on a journey while traveling from one place to another. One may decide to travel by Road, Air, Rail or by Sea. As you pay the fare for the journey, you are expressing implicit trust that the vehicle is roadworthy, the airplane airworthy, the train rail-worthy and the ship seaworthy to take you to your destination. I have never seen or heard of any person who paid fares and boarded a means of transportation he knew very well would not take him to his destination.
Anybody born into this world is on a journey from the earth to heaven or hell depending on the means of transportation the person elects to use. This journey which is usually commenced with physical birth is tainted with sin. This fact is buttressed in Psalm 51:5 where the Word of God makes it clear that we are shapened in iniquity and conceived in sin. Romans 3:23 makes it clear that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
Human beings by nature always choose to journey independent of God; a means of transportation which seems right to them. Proverbs 14:12 makes it clear that there is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Note, if you are journeying independent of God, you are traveling on a devil’s ticket which is a very destructive means of transportation because it will lead you to hell.
Motor vehicles, Airplanes, Trains and Ships as means of transportation can fail and always will fail. There is a way that is sure and that way is JESUS. In John 14:5-6, Thomas asked the Lord how he could ascertain the way and Jesus declared, “I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the father, but by me”.
However, before one can enter this sure way, one’s life journey which hitherto had been lived in sin must be intercepted and this is what happens when a man repents of his sins and turns away from them and now puts his faith in Jesus as the Son of God, who died for his sins on the cross of Calvary and also rose from the dead to secure eternal life for him.
Will you allow Jesus to intercept your life’s journey which is heading towards destruction? If you can trust man-made means of transportation to take you to your destination, why can’t you trust Jesus to carry you through this side of eternity and land you safely on heavens shore? Jesus knows the way thoroughly; He knows where the potholes and other dangers are along the way and can lead you safely to heaven. Jesus is not like the man-made means of transportation which can crash any time. Do you know that you can die now as a result of the crash of your means of transportation and as a result not get to your destination physically? Do you know also that your death as a result of the crash will automatically lead you into eternity? Where are you going to spend your eternity in the event of a crash: HEAVEN OR HELL?
Why not accept Jesus now, who is the ONLY WAY to Heaven by acknowledging that you are a sinner properly shapened in iniquity and conceived in sin. After acknowledging that you are a sinner, you have to repent of your sins and confess them to the Lord Jesus who died for your sins and rose again. After confessing your sins, you must forsake those sins and then put your faith in Jesus as the only Way through the earth to Heaven.
