“While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest … shall not cease.” Gen. 8:22. “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.” Gal 6:7-8.
Every farmer understands that there is a seed time and he endeavours to sow his seed at the right season. Farmers also understand that there is a harvest time. The time between the seed time and the harvest is when the farmer does several other works in the farm like weeding, administration of fertilizers to the seed, etc. After doing the best that he can do, the farmer now waits expectantly to reap just the kind of seeds he sowed. It will certainly be a surprise to a farmer who planted corn to see groundnut springing up.
Our present life is seedtime; in the world hereafter, there will be great harvest, but what will determine the kind of harvest you will experience is the kind of seed you sowed in your life time. A man will always reap just the kind of seed he sows. If he sows to please his own wrong desires, he will be planting seeds of evil and he will surely reap a harvest of spiritual decay and death; but if he plants the good things of the Spirit, he will reap everlasting life.
What kind of seed are you sowing now? Are you sowing to the flesh or to the Spirit? If you are sowing to the flesh, your life will produce these evil results: impure thoughts, eagerness for lustful pleasure, idolatry, spiritism (that is, encouraging the activities of demons), hatred and fighting, jealousy and anger, constant effort to get the best for yourself, complaints and criticisms, the feeling that everyone else is wrong except those in your own little group and there will be wrong doctrine, envy, murder, drunkenness, wild parties and all that sort of thing. But when you are sowing to the Spirit, your life will produce this kind of fruit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.
Did you notice how Galatians 6:7 begins, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked”? Herein lies the root cause of the careless and indulgent lifestyle of many: they are deceived by the devil and as a result of the deception, they think they can outwit God. One of the reasons some are deceived is because their present seed sown to the flesh is not producing immediate crop for harvest. They, therefore, continue to sin against God with the mistaken belief that there will be no harvest. Unlike the crops of the field which are harvested at approximately the same time each year, there is no time table for the harvest of life; but harvest must surely come!
In Mathew 13:24-30, our LORD JESUS CHRIST unequivocally declared, “The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.”
In Matthew 13:37-43, our LORD JESUS CHRIST explained the above parables to His disciples, “He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.”
Are you a child of God or a child of the devil? If you have not accepted JESUS CHRIST into your life as Lord and Savior, you cannot be a good seed. The only way you can become a good seed is by first of all acknowledging that you are a sinner and that you cannot save yourself. Secondly, repent of your sins and confess them to the LORD. Thirdly, you must forsake your sins; after forsaking your sins, you must put your faith in the LORD JESUS CHRIST as the only Son of God who died for your sins on the cross of Calvary and resurrected after the third day to give you everlasting life.
If you have taken a decision to accept JESUS CHRIST as your Lord and Savior after reading this tract, please do inform us so that we will rejoice with you and continue to pray for you.
