The Call

I was called to the Bar in 1991 and started practicing Law the same year. I was not a Christian, even though I occasionally went to church. I had no religious inclinations and believed in getting all I can from this life without thinking of life hereafter as I did not believe in that. On the 30th of April, 1994, my principal partner in the Law Firm where I was working, invited me to attend a Luncheon by the Full Gospel Business Men’s fellowship International at ‘Maggie’s Place’, a restaurant at Junction road, Kaduna, Nigeria. It was there I heard the gospel explicitly and came under the conviction of the Holy Ghost; in tears, I yielded my life to Christ. It was a unique and memorable experience that left me completely regenerated and transformed. Shortly after my conversion, I started worshiping in a living church in Kaduna.

In the church, I started serving the Lord, and as I continued in His service, the Lord laid it in my heart to start writing and printing gospel tracts and giving them out free of charge. I was not obedient to that call initially as I feared the huge financial implications of such a call. I had just opened my own chambers and was trying to get established. On 17th October, 1998, I wedded my wife but hid the vision from her as I knew she might try to compel me to obey. We continued to serve the Lord in several other capacities. One Saturday night in the year 1999, I had a revelation where I saw myself packing Bibles. The following morning being Sunday, I attended church service; in the course of the service, a representative of the Gideons International, a ministry involved in free distribution of the Bible and portions of it in traffic lanes of life, shared the vision of the ministry with the congregation and requested for membership. As he shared the vision, the Holy Spirit reminded me of the revelation I had in the night and instructed me to join that ministry. I obeyed and my wife and I signed up as members of the Gideons International that year.

In March, 2002, I went with my wife to speak in a church on behalf of the Gideons International. After speaking, the pastor of the church in the course of the service, gave a sharp utterance like this: “there is somebody here, the Lord had asked you to write tracts, but you refused…”; the utterance came with a note of strong warning. I was alarmed and terrified by the utterance because I knew it was for me. As we were driving home, I related to my wife that the utterance/rebuke that came from the Lord through the pastor was for me. I then shared with her for the first time how the Lord had instructed me to write tracts and give out freely and how I had resisted the call; I shared with her my fears. On getting home, I repented before the Lord and together, my wife and I asked the Lord to use us as He pleases. As we took the step of faith, the Lord started giving the inspiration and not long afterwards, our first tract “Will You Trust Him today?” was published in 2002.

In 2007, the Lord impressed on me to incorporate the name of the ministry which we had been using since 2002; thus, “Redemption Tracts Ministry” was registered in Nigeria under Part C of the Company and Allied Matters Act 1990. We have written and published 12 tracts under the guidance of the Holy Spirit since then. Two of the tracts have been translated into Hausa language. The Lord of the harvest has been faithful in bringing many into His Kingdom through the instrument of His Word in these tracts. We have been receiving multiple amazing salvation testimonies from different parts of the country via emails, text messages, and phone calls. We have also been privileged to lead some personally to the Lord; to God be the glory! We rejoice greatly each time we receive a salvation testimony and we pray for the Lord to establish the souls as they identify with a living church near them. We are glad to testify that many of these souls are still standing and growing in the Lord; praise God! Furthermore, the Lord has proven to us that the work is strictly His as we have never lacked the funds to print and reprint numerous tracts to meet the increasing demands from different parts of the country. These tracts are given out free of charge, but arrangement for delivery is made by those who demand for them.

We can be contacted through the address and phone numbers shown in the ‘contact us’ tab. I currently live with my wife and co-partner in the ministry, Lucia Chinwe Ochu, with our three lovely daughters, Charis, Shalom and Emerald, in Kaduna city, Kaduna State, northern Nigeria.  My wife, who is a medical doctor, is also a gospel country music artist and has released an album “He Paid the Price” through the “Redemption Music” arm of the ministry. The album is available on our website and can be freely downloaded and reproduced as a further dissemination of the Gospel. This is also applicable to all our tracts which are not protected by any copyright law. Our vision is to have some of the tracts translated into as many indigenous and international languages as possible so as to aid the fulfillment of the words of the great commission: “go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16: 15).

Yours in His Vineyard,

Brother Kachi Chima Ochu.
