The list of specific actions and attitudes which shows that one is living in darkness is inexhaustible. In Galatians 5:19-21, the scripture makes it clear that the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murder , drunkenness, revellings and such like and also concluded by saying that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Are you still having sexual relationship with a man or woman who is not your husband or wife? Are you a prostitute or do you patronize prostitutes? Are you a homosexual, or a lesbian? Do you still engage in the act of masturbation? Do you still have sexual relationship with your brother or sister? Do you sleep with pigs, goats, cows and dogs? Are you a specialist in raping women and even female infants? Do you still feel like having sexual intercourse with any woman or man that you see? Do you look at women or men lustfully in your heart?
Do you still drink beer, gin or burukutu? Do you still smoke cigarette of whatever brand? Are you addicted to Indian hemp, cocaine, heroin, solution or any other hard drug?
Are you a thief? Do you steal with gun or pen? Do you still give or receive bribe? As a business man or top civil servant, do you still ‘kick back and front’?
Do you still deceive and cheat people who came in contact with you? Are you still involved in 419? Do you cheat in examination?
Are you a murderer? Are you an expert in poisoning food? Are you a witch or a wizard? Are you an occultist and a member of one of these eastern or oriental religions? Are you involved in animal or human sacrifice?
Are you a native doctor? Are you a ritual murderer? Are you a thug or a hired assassin? Do you still hate human beings? Are you in any secret society? Do you still wear charms, amulet and talisman or are they buried in your house or hidden in your car? Are you an expert in criminal abortions?
Are you jealous and envious? Do you want to have everything you see? Do you want to be rich by all means? Are you a gossip and a tale bearer? Do you still backbite and sow seed of discord between people? Do you instigate people with your money to cause religious or political riots? Are you a liar? Are you proud at heart? Are you proud of your money, educational qualification, status, connections, position in government, position in church, and background?
Human beings by nature expose their true character in darkness, where others will not notice their true state. Be that as it may, you are in a better position to sincerely answer the above questions for yourself. If the answers to one or all of the questions above are in the affirmative, then you are living in Darkness.
In John 1:4-5 the Bible makes it clear that ‚in him (i.e JESUS) was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not‛. Jesus Christ is Life Himself and poured it forth upon his creation by dying for our sins on the cross of Calvary. All the above sinful habits were nailed to the cross. Jesus also resurrected that anybody who will sincerely believe in him will receive power to live in victory over these sinful habits.
Have you allowed the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to shine into your heart? Please note that if you have not allowed the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to shine into your heart, you cannot go to heaven; you cannot carry darkness into heaven.
In Rev. 21:27, the Bible talking of Heaven makes it clear as follows: ‚And there shall in no wise enter into it anything that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination or maketh a lie; but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life‛.
Friend, heaven is not a place you can enter with darkness of sin. Jesus Christ is the creator of life and his life brings light to mankind. In His light we see ourselves as we really are i.e. as sinners in need of a savior. Friend, have you seen yourself as a sinner? Do you need a savior from a sinful lifestyle? If that is you heart desire, we plead with you to repent of your sins and confess them to our lord Jesus Christ who died for our sins. You must also forsake those sins which constitute darkness in your life and then put your faith in Jesus Christ. Friend, if you do this sincerely, Jesus will light the path ahead of you so that you can see how to live. He will remove the darkness of sin from your life.
